John installed his first roof at just 14 years old, helping out on his family’s farm in York County, Pennsylvania. That early hands‑on experience sparked a lifelong path in the trades.

After completing a carpenter apprenticeship early in his adult life, John went on to spend many years in the building materials industry, gaining real‑world product knowledge across structural materials, finishes, and systems used throughout the home.

In 2008, John founded Montgomery Design Build, Inc. with a clear mission:
